Hold to the Rod, it's as simple as that!

Sometimes in life we loose sense of direction like.. What is my purpose here? What am I supposed to do next in life? How can I make life so much more meaningful? Then, sometimes we feel like we get stuck in one spot and feel like we are getting no where in life, when everything is just going wrong and not the way you would like. I've been in some of those situations.. but when I sat down and thought about what I really wanted in life.. I came to the conclusion that all I wanted was to be happy. I mean who doesn't want to be happy!? But the point is all we have to do to be happy is to HOLD TO THE ROD.

There's this song called Hold to the Rod that is in the Children's Hymn Book and the words are so perfect they go like this:

A vision came from God,
To Nephi, seer of olden time,
Wherein the holy word sublime
Was shown an iron rod.

(Chorus)
Hold to the rod, the iron rod;
'Tis strong, and bright, and true.
The iron rod is the word of God;
'Twill safely guide us through.

While on our journey here below,
Beneath temptation's pow'r,
Through mists of darkness we must go,
In peril ev'ry hour.

And when temptation's pow'r is nigh,
Our pathway clouded o'er,
Upon the rod we can rely,
And heaven's aid implore.

And, hand o'er hand, the rod along,
Through each succeeding day,
With earnest prayer and hopeful song,
We'll still pursue our way.

Afar we see the golden rest
To which the rod will guide,
Where, with the angels bright and blest,
Forever we'll abide.

"Sometimes in our lives the way becomes dark. Perhaps our friends want us to do something we don’t think we should. Maybe a loved one dies or something else happens to make us feel discouraged or sad or lonely. But we don’t ever have to feel confused or afraid of the dark, because our guide, the Savior, has been through the darkness too. He knows how we feel and knows the path we must take to find our way out. He has given us the gospel, an iron rod or railing, to help us keep on the proper road. And His pathway will do far more than lead us out of a cave—it will lead us back to our Heavenly Father."

Elder F. Burton Howard

 I know that as we do grip on to the Iron Rod we will find direction in the ways we need to go. I heard this catchy phrase that goes like this.. "Grip tight, Knuckle white."

Never forget the chorus of the song:

Hold to the rod, the iron rod;
'Tis strong, and bright, and true.
The iron rod is the word of God;
'Twill safely guide us through.

The Iron rod will guide us safely back to our Heavenly Father just like Elder F. Burton Howard said, "His pathway will do far more than lead us out of a cave -- it will lead us back to our Heavenly Father".
